The African Abaya Edit: Celebrating Culture Through Fashion

Our Lagos Ankara Abaya collection celebrates the rich textile traditions of West Africa. Here's the story behind the design.
Where Modesty Meets Heritage
The Lagos Ankara Abaya was born from a simple question: why should modest fashion ignore the world's most vibrant textile traditions? Ankara fabric — with its bold geometric patterns and saturated colours — is a celebration of West African identity.
The Design Process
Our design team worked with artisan fabric producers in Lagos to source authentic Ankara prints. Each piece is cut to maintain the integrity of the pattern, ensuring the design flows naturally across the garment.
Styling the Ankara Abaya
The boldness of Ankara means you need very little else. Pair with simple gold jewellery — a thin chain, small hoop earrings — and let the fabric speak. Neutral sandals or white trainers keep the look grounded.
For formal occasions, add a matching Ankara headwrap for a fully coordinated, culturally rich look that turns heads for all the right reasons.
For Our African Sisters
This collection is for every Nigerian, Ghanaian, Kenyan, and South African woman who has ever felt that modest fashion didn't speak to her culture. We see you. We designed this for you.
